Swimming enthusiasts will love the Weipa Aquatic Centre’s 25m 8 lane swimming pool. Sitting atop Rocky point overlooking the beautiful backdrop of Albatross bay the facility is staffed by qualified lifeguards during opening hours and provides the community with a range of swimming facilities including, and a leisure pool with beach access and water features for toddlers.

Picnic tables, BBQs and a large, grassed area overlooking Albatross Bay provide a beautiful backdrop, making it a popular place for children’s birthday parties or gatherings. These facilities are free of charge during opening hours and to avoid disappointment can be booked by directly here, or by calling us.

Learn to Swim

Weipa Aquatic Centre is proud to partner with Royal Life Saving by offering Swim and Survive, a fun and dynamic swimming and water safety program that focuses on the development of swimming, personal survival, basic rescue and lifesaving skills. Swim and Survive aims to provide individuals with the required skills to lead safe and active lives in, on and around water.

Under the Swim and Survive program we offer a participation pathway starting the journey from infants and toddlers transitioning to independent participation for pre-schoolers to develop foundation skills and then extending to more challenging skills increasing in endurance and complexity for primary, teenagers and beyond. 

• Classes generally run in conjunction with school terms
• No classes on public holidays
• Class limits apply and are based on Royal Life saving Society swim school guidelines.
  • Little Wonders infants 1:6 parent in water
  • Little Wonders toddlers 1:6 parent in water
  • Levels 1-2 ratio of 1:4
  • Level 3-4 ratio of 1:5
  • Level 5+ ration of 1:8
• Term fees must be paid in advance for the term.
• Class fees do not include entry to the facility.
• If classes are missed due to absence or illness there will be no refund or make up class.

If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather or staff absence make up classes will be scheduled or credits applied.
