Aaron Schleich

Aaron Schleich recently joined the WTA in November 2019 as one of the Rio Tinto appointed Representatives. 

Aaron first moved to Weipa in 2007 to work for Rio Tinto as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer and has since developed through several roles within Rio Tinto; more recently Mine Services Superintendent and currently Contractor Management Superintendent. Professionally, Aaron has completed two degree; Bachelor of Environmental Technology completed through Griffith University and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering completed through the University of Queensland.

Aaron enjoys the wonderful Weipa lifestyle and region alongside his wife Janine Schleich and three fabulous boys; Beau, Eli and Cody. Having personally invested into Weipa, Aaron is keen to see the region grow, see the community spirit flourish and help others see how great Weipa is in the same way he and his family do. 

Aaron is a strong advocate for the Weipa region and has been part of many local committees; most current is President of the Weipa Fishing Classic. Having the opportunity to be part of the WTA is a very exciting prospect and Aaron looks forward to helping shape, contribute and offering ideas to strengthen the town, community and region.
