Becoming a WTA Member - Candidate Information Sessions

WTA Members are appointed to the WTA every 4 years, at the same time that other local government elections are held in Queensland.

The WTA Superintendent conducts the election and the process reflects the process under the Local Government Act 2009 and the Local Government Electoral Act 2011. The next election process will be conducted on Saturday 28 March 2020.

The role of WTA Members, including the Chairperson, can be demanding, but also highly rewarding. 

There are a total of 7 WTA Members – 4 Elected Members (including Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson), 3 Appointed Members (Rio Tinto and Traditional Owners). Prior to the election, nominations will be called for candidates wishing to be elected and appointed as a WTA Member.

Please come along to a WTA Member Candidate Information Session to find out more about being a WTA Member, and the required nomination process. Attending a candidate information session is considered a compulsory step in the nomination process.
