Criteria for Relief

Recognising that the Government has already put in place a large number of business support packages, the process for Rio Tinto and WTA relief will be assessed by the following key criteria for eligibility:

  • To be eligible, a business must prove it has been impacted by COVID-19 as at 18th March 2020;
  • The business must detail how the restrictions & responses to COVID-19 have impacted their operation;
  • The business must show it’s continuity planning, including how the business is adapting its activities where possible;
  • The business must explain the contribution the relief package will provide to the sustainability of the operation and the ability to retain staff;
  • The business must disclose funds received from any other sources.

The attached financial relief form must be completed by business and will be reviewed on a case by case basis, using the following guidelines:

  • Where it can, all amounts should continue to be paid;
  • Where there is financial distress as a result of COVID-19, the parties should attempt to negotiate a mutually beneficial outcome;
  • There will be a proportionality to reductions based on the decline in turnover to ensure that the burden is shared between the parties.
