My family moved to Weipa when I was two years old, and it has been my home ever since. Together with my husband Kurt, who is also a long time local, we are now raising our own family here, and have two daughters aged 14 and 11.
I have always been a very passionate and active community member, and have been involved in a variety of different clubs and community groups in my time, including being the Secretary of the Weipa Bullride for almost 5 years, and am currently the President of the Weipa Pottery Club, just to name a couple.
Since completing all of my schooling from preschool to Yr 12 at Weipa North State School, I have had many different jobs within the community, in between having kids. Most recently I drove trucks for Rio Tinto for 5 years, and now own and operate our local ice cream van. Kurt and I are also owner operators of a local fishing charter business. My experiences growing up here, and involvement in a range of different work environments and community groups, gives me a great insight and understanding of the challenges faced by different age groups, businesses and community groups.
I am fiercely passionate about our town and region, and am very driven to see great things happen for our community, and to help create opportunities for more residents to make Weipa their long term home.
