Reasons to Live - Don't Let Your Trauma Define You
BRISBANE AUTHOR JAS RAWLINSON is coming to town & looking for inspiring stories from people with a lived experience of mental illness… Does this sound like you? . .
Every year in Australia, over 2500 people take their lives. Every day, more than 6 Australians lose their battle with hope. The reality is, life can be overwhelming. Between the daily grind of a 9-5 job, making time for loved ones, and trying to stay fit and healthy, there’s often little time to care for ourselves. And opening up about the fact that you’re not ok? Well, that can feel terrifying. But just like physical trauma, mental pain should never be ignored. So if you, or someone you know, is struggling with your mental health, underlying trauma, or thoughts of despair, this event is one not to miss! Join with Brisbane author, writing coach, and freelance journalist Jas Rawlinson, as she shares about her journey through family violence, suicidal thoughts, and sexual assault, as well as how she became the author of the book ‘Reasons to Live One More Day, Every Day: Stories of triumph from Australians who refused to give into darkness.’ Jas will also be joined by members of the Royal Flying Doctor Service QLD, who will share their expert insights on recognising trauma, and how to take those first steps toward healing. There’s also the chance to win a writing mentorship with Jas Rawlinson, and have your story written and published in the upcoming second volume of ‘Reasons to Live’ (valued at $500!), so be sure to clear your schedule! Copies of "Reasons to Live" will also be for sale on the night for $20 Special thanks to Weipa Community Care Association and Royal Flying Doctor service for supporting this important community event.
